Background of the Study

Workforce diversity and inclusion (D&I) have become key areas of focus for organizations striving to build competitive and sustainable workforces (Michell & Turner, 2023). Workforce diversity refers to the presence of employees from various backgrounds, including but not limited to race, gender, ethnicity, age, and physical abilities. Inclusion, on the other hand, refers to creating an environment where diverse employees are valued, respected, and given equal opportunities to contribute and thrive.

Nestlé Nigeria, a subsidiary of the global food and beverage leader, operates in a competitive industry where innovation, employee engagement, and adaptability are essential for organizational success. The company has made substantial efforts to embrace diversity and inclusion strategies, aiming to reflect the diversity of its customer base and enhance team collaboration. However, while Nestlé Nigeria has been proactive in promoting diversity and inclusion, there is a need to evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies and their impact on organizational outcomes in Plateau State, where the company maintains operational facilities.

Despite the growing importance of workforce diversity and inclusion in fostering a positive workplace culture, the effectiveness of Nestlé Nigeria’s diversity and inclusion strategies in Plateau State has not been comprehensively evaluated.
